Week 1 shots Berry picking.

Well, what a difference a day makes, the weather was much improved so the kids went out into the garden to pick blackcurrants and raspberries. A perfect chance for a photo!!!

And even better i switched to manual for these!!!! Am really pleased with the exposure, esp of the one of DS eating blackcurrants!!!

Katie helping out, increased the aperture to get shallow dof again.

I am much happier with the pics now I am using the histograms to check out the exposure. I did find my Canon underexposed slightly, but this was not obvious on the LCD screen, so no going back for me now, histograms every time!!!

And finally a full length shot of DS picking and eating more raspberries!!! We had these warm with cheesecake for pud.... mmmmmmmmm!!!!

Smaller aperture so more is in focus, greater DoF.

I think i can feel a scrapbook page coming on!!!

Did you put them in green to match the background? FAB photographs, it's lovely to have some sun for a change.

OMG manual - they are great, you should be pleased with them. Definitely worth scrapping, personally I like the one of your daughter holding the blackcurrants, love the dof.
Well done.

Great photos Ann, love all those yummy berries. In answer to your question about text on photos, I quite like it and in some cases I think it adds to the photo. It's something I do too!

Hi ann,

Love the berry shot with katie helping. how did you do that?

To get shallow dof you need the apeture as large as possible (this is the lowest number for your lens) easiest way to do this is to switch to apeture priority and adjust the apeture till the number is lowest. Check that the exposure is OK, most cameras will have a scale to show you this, then focus on the object in the foreground, background will be thrown out of focus. Does this make any sense? Prob best to have a go!!
