Paris Mini Book Part 2.

Here is the second part of my book about our Easter trip to Paris.

Paris mini book; Part 1

I printed off a lot of the photos taken in Paris, mostly in 3x2" size to fit a mini book, but a few others at 6x4" for full scrapbook pages later. I had picked up a Papermania 'All Aboard' travel journal a while back, and it proved perfect to make my book of memories.
As the book is quite long, I will only inflict part one on you today!

mini book part two...

Following on from the previous post, this one completes the mini book project during our time in Barcelona.

 On our first day, our Silver wedding anniversary, I wanted to see the World Heritage Sites the city had to offer.

After arriving we spent a good few days viewing Gaudi architecture, La Pedrera

La Sagrada Familia

and Park Guell...a very busy (and expensive!) day.

Glad I finished it quickly so I didn't forget all the fabulous things we did.

Spain Mini Book

I kept all the tickets, passes and memorabilia collected in Spain so I could make a mini book to put it all into.

To maintain a similar theme throughout I used Roald Dahl scrapbook and papers by Papermania, they seem to tie together the whole book.

The book began at our wedding day and continued in chronological order.

A Little Miracle.

Back in April we had a text message from an old friend, she was expecting a surprise baby (her 5th!) but the baby had decided to come into the world early, over 3 months early in fact.
Little Grace was born at 27 weeks, and we all held our breath as she gradually grew stronger.  Finally in July, 1 week before her due date, at the impressive weight of just over 5lbs Grace and my friend came home!

Luckily for me her Daddy had been taking daily photos, and I managed to get access to them through Graces oldest sister, a good friend of Hannah's.  This meant I could put together a mini book for my friend, the journalling is simply made up of the texts she sent us all to update us about Grace's progress... I thought this was the ideal way to record them.

The book is made from a plain kraft book I picked up in Muji, the covers are covered with DoCrafts Tilly Daydream patchwork fabric papers, and I added ribbons to the spine.  To embellish it I used a heart doily, a couple of quilled flowers, and a crochet circle I'd been saving for something special.

I stuck to using a Tilly Daydream kit throughout, and black and white photos for a cleaner look.  Now I just have to part with it!

Inspired

Well, I did manage to pick up my lovely paper pack, and had a morning being inspired by Tim Holtz.

He is a really good teacher, well prepared and explained everything a step at a time.  i came away knowing how to make better use of the ranger things I already have, and with an almost completed vintage mini book about my ancestors.  I then spent the afternoon completing my book, and here it is in all its glory!

The cover has the lumpiest embellishments and a belt style fastening.

Inside I used little photos of family members, flip up pages added to embellishment spaces.

Some mini pages flipped left to richt, hinges were made with tissue tape.

Backgrounds were made using distress stain, inks and masks.

Strange to think it stared as a little bag of ribbon and embellishments and a handful of manilla tags.
I even chopped into my new papers for the final pages with a photo of me to include some science references!
I'm not one to gush, but I did come away feeling inspired, and thinking about using my stash in a new way!

Festive mini book.

In the current Creativity magazine you might notice in the back of the scrapbooking section a little mini book.

To make it I used one of the larger decorative X Cut dies to make the cover and pages.

 As I always have plenty of little photos left over from making my Christmas journal this was the ideal way to make use of them, and the X Cut speech bubble dies made lovely little journalling spaces.

My favourite sticker was the banner that I used on the front and inside the book, along with the pre-tied bows. After binding it simply with a loosely knotted piece of ribbon my little book was done.
