Holiday Highlights....

Just returned from two weeks on the south coast, mostly lovely weather exploring the lovely county of Dorset.  it doesn't matter how many times we visit, we always find something new to do.

Here are a few highlights (and lots of photos!)

We came back very relaxed, but began wandering around a sculpture park in a disused quarry on Portland.
Some sculptures were small

Others huge

Some were crying out for a photo opportunity

some beautiful

and others were just funny

We enjoyed the day and so did the kids.

One one day we managed to wangle some time with just the two of us, as my sister took the kids to a water park.  We went on a far more sedate trip cruising around Poole harbour, visiting Brownsea Island on our journey. It contains a castle alas not open to the public...

but with a coffee shop and gloriously warm terrace

We saw the site where the first scout camp took place, marked by this stone

and got fabulous views of the Studland coast with Old Harry rocks.

And the rest of the time we lazed on the beach

went hunting for driftwood on chesil beach

looked for blackberries (not yet ripe this year)

spent time with Mum and Dad

and caught views of beautiful wildlife.
A lovely holiday :)

Every year I think that the girls won't want to come... as they are both over 18, but they still enjoy it. Although they do bicker, as you said it just wouldn't be the same without them!
