Friday in Paris.

Our first couple of days in the french capital were wet, but as Friday dawned at last the sun appeared!
We decided to make the most of the weather by taking a cruise on the Seine.

Sitting on top of the boat in the sunshine made us really feel that spring was on its way!

We saw lots of the sites of Paris from the ship, the Left Bank,

Ponte Alexander,

Notre Dame

to name but a few.
After the tour we went to see a church in the city that had originally had the meridian line within it, before it was located in Greenwich.

The church also had one of the jubilee doors for the 'year of mercy' that the Pope had inaugurated last winter.

Outside was a beautiful fountain too.

We spent a little time visiting the 'Harrods' of Paris; Galaries Lafayette.

A very high end shop, with a fabulous stain glass dome in the centre surrounded theatre-like by sets of balconies.

We ended the day at the Place de la Concorde viewing the Eiffel Tower as it lit up the night sky.

Finally, we met up with friends of ours in a bar for drinks.

We were all in Paris for the first time; our friend from home was taking part in the Paris marathon on the Sunday of our visit, so it was lovely to meet up together.
