12 Days of Christmas

DoCrafts sent these lovely papers back at the end of the summer to play with, and I managed to make 3 pages with differing levels of difficulty using them.

The quick page made use of the 6x6 papers cut into little squares, with the front of a laser cut card as a photo frame.

I did enjoy using the frame as you can still see the pretty papers underneath.

This layout took a little longer as I cut around the scalloped edge of the paper by hand and the central oval to make a frame.

The papers have lots of little images that can be cut out, ideal for making cards and scrapbook pages.

And finally, I made my own stamps using the dies and funky foam, then used these to make my backing papers.

The title and journalling block is made from embossed Kraft card.

Still loving to use Kraft!

You can tell I'm back at work, 10 days between blog posts!

A while back Docrafts asked me to make a page using the 12 Days of Christmas range to be featured as the layout of the week for their website.

I love the papers and used a silly set of photos taken a couple of years ago of us all wearing a beard brought by Father Christmas to make the day much more fun!

As I wanted to use lots of photos I printed and matted them photo booth style, and a filigree card front highlights the focal shot.

Days 10 and 11.

Apologies for being so behind with posting my journal.  I can't believe it's the 21st tomorrow and I'm still at work!
This year I e-mailed my list to Santa (aka Kev) with links to the things I like, so I printed off the email, and added it to my journal in a pocket.

 I decorated the outside of what would have been a very plain piece of paper with stamps, die cuts and a ribbon pull.

 And while on crafty retreat in Stratford I borrowed a die to make some very cute milk cartons, after stamping and the addition of a few tags ( and a chocolate) these will make the table settings for Christmas day.

Days 12 and 13

Am still making progress with the journal.

Day 12 was about Christmas memories. I had scrapped this photo of me a couple of times before, but only just noticed the tree in the background, it would have been my first Christmas in London back in 1964.



Day 13 was about Christmas music. I used photos I took (with Harry's help) signing the title of the hymn O Holy Night. These were taken using the inspiration from Cheryl's 12 days of Christmas photography course. The journalling is about the fact that we sang the hymn a few years ago as a choir, but murdered it somewhat, as it is just so high!!

JYC 2011 and 12 days of Christmas

Regular readers will know that this is the time of year when all scrapping stops for me, and I spend my time making my Christmas Journal. I have already organised the papers and embellishments for this years journal, and decided to use an A4 format, after using 6x12" for the past two years.

I do admit to being late getting started this year, but hope to get pages done at a crop in Bedworth today, photos are ready, so I've no excuse at all!I did find myself asking the question, "Will I have anything new to record?" but 3 days in and I already have a number of photos and ideas to include.

And as if I didn't have enough to do, I'm also enrolled on CJs online photography course 12 days of Christmas, to give my photographic mojo a kick up the backside.

First job was to take a festive self portrait, here's my effort... took ages, but can see it getting into the JYC!

I look a bit miserable, but that's only because this is the last of about 100 shots using the self timer. Very wearing.

The shot was taken in the mirror, and as HoHoHo reads the right way if you turn it upside down in the mirror I was pleased how it turned out.
