Woe is me!

It's a good job I have lots of scrapbook pages in reserve, as I just can't seem to get going with making much at all at the moment.  I still have 2 pages of my JYC to finish, when it's done I'll upload the last 4 pages.  Maybe tomorrow.......

 In the mean-time here's a summery page from our holiday last year.

It was a page designed by Sutty for last Novembers cybercrop on UK Scrappers.

The photo is a disused church on Portland that I must have driven past a hundred times,

 but on this day it was open, and we got to have a look around inside.

The original layout used papers with maps on them, as I didn't have these I used a really old stamp to fake mine :)

Lots of snow here, I did wander about the garden in my pyjamas, coat and wellies this morning to get a few snaps... just hope the neighbours were still in bed!

Welcome

Now, poor old Coventry gets a bad press at times, after all, there isn't much left of our historic past, and at times it seems that the planners in the mid 20th Century finished the job the Luftwaffe started. Our railway station can seem a little bleak, and for many visitors to the city it is their first view of what is, after all, one of the oldest cities in the country.

Just before the Olympics the station was spruced up a little, and the large plate glass windows decorated with these graphic figures.

As I collected Hannah from the train in the summer I couldn't resist snapping a couple of shots, and the cyber crop page designed by Jemma back in October suited the pictures perfectly.

A much more interesting welcome to Coventry.

A Sunny Page.

This as my first of the Cyber crop layouts, designed by Suzy snail on UK Scrapper.

I loved the patchwork effect, and think it would be fabulous for using up scraps, a good thing as my scraps drawer is so full i can hardly shut it.

The photo is of my Aunt and Uncle visiting the UK from Canada a couple of years ago.

The stitching did take a while, but i think the final page was worth all the effort!
Work tomorrow... how many weeks till we break up for Christmas?  Can't wait!

White Space.

Another cyber crop layout, this time by Yorkshirelass.  Regular readers will know that I don't really do white space, so this layout about a house we used to stay in when the children were small is not my usual style.

I loved the stamping and layering of papers,

 but as is usual, I can't leave out the journalling, so this was additional to make the page my own.

And I think the photo is positive proof that we did have a summer this year :)

UK Scrappers Cyber crop class.

I was asked to make a page for the UKS 10th birthday cyber crop a while back...

..and I loved the photos I took of Katie before her Year 11 prom, so I used one as inspiration for my class.
The class is live, so if you want to have a go take a look here, layouts need to be uploaded by the weekend.

There are lots of handmade flowers 

and a fair amount of cutting too, 

but if you are interested in making a feminine page with a vintage touch, then have a go :)

Birthday Double Page

I seem to be taking lots of photos at the moment, and these have generated more double layouts this year than I have done for ages.

This one records Katie's birthday treat last weekend.  She took ages to decide what she wanted to do, and her choice of Nando's was very last minute.

I took photos of the menu while in there (I know... a bit weird if you are not a scrapbooker!)

 and used these to embellish the page.

No photo of Harry as he was in a grumpy teen mood and wouldn't have one taken.
Huge thanks to Jemma (aka Jimjams) for the stitching template I used for the title, I only added to mine by colouring inside the letters too.

A Quick Card and some news....

This card appears at the back of the scrapbooking section of The Creativity magazine.

I'm not usually one for stickers, but this made such a quick card I think it would be ideal for crafting beginners. I used the accompanying little stamps and a few gems to decorate the card, a pleated ribbon and a bit of doodling, job done :)
A bit of news, I was asked a while back to design a layout for  a cyber crop on the UK's number one scrapbooking site; UK Scrappers.

 At the end of October they are running the online crop, with lots of inspiration, classes to make; not just scrapbook pages but altered items, mini books home decor etc.  I tend to visit it every day, and met many of my crafting friends through UKS, if you are into scrapping and have never tried the site could be a great time to drop in.

Team page

Following the previous post all my UKS friends and I gathered around our computers and craft spaces last night to complete this LO as part of our first monthly online crop.

The page is made using a circle cut from a dinner plate, with scalloped circles punched, cut in half and slid underneath to make a faux die cut paper. A little bit of inking, distressing and stitching, along with a lot of hand cutting of flowers completed the page.

The photo is of me (looking a lot thinner!!) and Hannah about 9 years ago, with my nephew at his baptism.

Off to Derby today taking Hannah back to Uni.... when she gets out of bed that is! Ahhhh teenagers, don't you just love 'em!

Scatty Scrappers Crop

I've been a member of a team on UKS for a couple of years now, it gives me a chance to chat with like minded scrapbookers, and I've even been able to meet up with one member during a charity crop in Lancashire.

To help us to keep scrapping we've decided to do a mini crop online starting next week, and to kick us off I've designed a page for the team.

So here for my team mates (and anyone else who's interested) here are some sneak peaks of the LO we'll be making next Friday.

Stitching (if you're up for it!) distressing, punching and plenty of cutting!

A busy day ahead.

The Christmas season is officially starting today, as Hannah left at 9.30 to start her seasonal work at Argos, I've finished my Christmas shopping, and we have 2 church Bazaars to attend today! Kev's school has one over in Willenhall, and then a quick drive from there back to Holy Family for our own local one. I always enjoy the Bazaar, the Hall is decorated, the parish is out in force, there are lots of bits and pieces to buy (Harry bought his pressies there for under a fiver last year!!!) and and old friend plays Santa for the kids.

Here's a recent page, made a couple of weeks ago for the cyber crop on UKS. The page was designed by Ifa, and i love the ribbon frame... might use this idea again!... Although thinking back the ribbons did take ages to sew on; i remember saying never again when i was half way through!

The photo is of the girls near the cliff top at Worbarrow Bay in Dorset (It looks more dangerous than it was!) Title letters are Autumn Leaves with Glossy Accents (Large) and Doodlebug (small).

Some news, I have another interview on Monday for a part time post working with Year 6 students at a Primary School, which starts after Christmas. If i got it it would give me plenty of experience to go after another primary post if this is what i want to do... still not really decided yet! A few jobs have been advertised recently, so even if i don't get this one there will be others to go for in the pipeline.

Busy Friday

..as i got a last minute call into work yesterday! So when i got home their was very little food in the house (i usually shop on a Thursday) ... luckily Hannah had made the best of it and come up with pasta and veggie sauce for tea. It's a good thing we got them interested in cooking from an early age. Lots of chores for me today to catch up...but here is a quick page.

This was one of my fave pics of Kevin i took on holiday this summer, on a day out to see the Cerne Abbas giant. The LO was a class run by Traciedoodles over on UKS for the cyber crop. I also used it for the SLYMI challenge last week which was to make a 'thank you' page.

As i didn't have the suggested papers for the class i used the DCWV Green stack, and some white embossed card for the LO. I stitched the journalling lines and the flower stems. I do love the doodling we were encouraged to do, i tired a different pattern for a change.
