2008 photo summary

I don't like this time of year too much, it's always a bit of an anti climax after christmas... but i enjoyed completing this page and looking back at the events that have happened during the past year. I added a word to each photo using PSE to keep the LO tidy (if you click on the LO it will grow so you can see the words!), and just cut out each one and made a mosaic effect on the page. 'Lyndsy's Diary' alphabet cut and sanded for the title and sizzix clock habds cut from card covered chip board. An early foray into hybrid scrapping, but no digi LOs for me!!

Hannah as Mary

The prompt today was to include something from the season that had not fit into any earlier pages, so i included this picture of Hannah as Mary in the school Nativity play. Lots of glitter again, and i used an alpha Kev bought me a couple of years ago for part of the title.

We also had to make a title page, so here is mine, made with the Anna Griffin papers i started the journal off with..

More pages, up to date now!

Here are my pages for Boxing day and the 27th and 28th. Photo for 27th seems a bit random, but if you look at the journalling you will see why i have taken it!!
Have enjoyed getting glittery with todays page!

Christmas Eve/Day pages

Went away from the trad colours for my Christmas Eve page, had written my journalling in rough on the day and had the idea for the photo , so this didn't take too long.

I decided to make a double LO for the big day, as i had lots to include, and a few photos i wanted to use.
The title is flocked, so has a lovely touchy feely nature to it!

Only thing is that there are no photos of Kev and me!

Post Christmas Post

Well apart from my Christmas pressie not arriving in time, the hoover dying just before i had finished the housework, and the discovery of headlice during Midnight Mass (Aaaaaargh!) it all really went to plan over the past few days!

The kids seemed to enjoy their pressies, I just need to catch up with my journal now. I did one page yesterday, but didn't have time to upload it, so here it is. Hope to get some more done today!

Remembering Christmas Past (and todays page)

This is the mini book i started at the Exhall crop on Sunday, and spent most of today completing. I got lots done at the crop, but didn't realise how much time it would take me to finish it!

The photographs are sort of chronological, i converted them all to B&W to avoid clashing colours, and they go quite well with the mainly red, black and white colour scheme.

As i made my Mum an album using the Christmas photos last year, i was hankering after one for myself!! I will keep this out as part of the decorations every year now!!

I am really pleased with the final outcome, i even added some jingle bells (courtesy of Paperchase) to the fibres around the bookrings for an extra festive feel. This was a great idea shared at the crop, so when i saw the bells, i HAD to have them!!!

So to todays JYC LO, made 3 lists which tuck behind the ribbons, one for today (all done) one for tomorrow and one for Christmas Eve. The latter 2 are on the fridge door until i complete them. love lists!

Up to date again.

3 LOs done today, had a good time at the Exhall crop, and part made a lovely metal covered mini book, hope to finish this tomorrow.
First LO is about Christmas food. I remembered that i had some photos of the children with their gingerbread house from last year, so i used these. made the cutest little gingerbread men from grungeboard and a cuttlebug die, inked and covered in glossy accents.

Struggled with the next one, it's about the unexpected, so I have made a pocket with some tags in, added a title and some tags, and if i get surprise pressies on the big day i will add pics of these, and some journalling.

Finally todays page was about capturing what the house looks like today, This morning when i took the photo it was still uncharacteristically tidy (visitors yesterday!!) but the picture i chose captures this moment to a T, the Wii game in the foreground, and the nativity behind. we also were asked to try and use colours in the photo, hence the unfestive look to this page! Made use of my stitch stamps on many of the recent LOs, had forgotten how much i liked them!

Another catch up

Got 2 pages done today. After Ian and Sharon and the boys left, and i had watched Strictly (Great show dance from Tom, after that i think either couple deserved to win!) i managed to complete the page for the 17th about the perfect gift.

Had to hide it quick when Hannah got in from her party though, as the gift is hers!!!
Sorry the photo is a bit blurred, taking it at nearly midnight doesn't help!!
Cropping again tomorrow, might get another journal page done as well as the class we are completing!

Catching up. Letter to santa

Am 4 days behind, but when i looked at the prompts for these days, picked the easiest to do. Got harry to write a letter to Santa, and used that for for the basis of my LO.

Used DCWV cardstock, and added lovely DCWV glitter letters i won at the crop last week!

Tree page at last!!!

Finally caught up the LO for the 11th (not done tonights or last nights yet, but it's nearly the christmas holidays!!!)

The tree has gone up in the lounge, adn i took some bokeh (blurry!) pics of the lights. I used these printed on some textured white cardstock to make my background paper, and a close up of our geriatric little fairy!!!

Stamped journalling block on Anna Griffin papers, AC thickers DCWV cardstock and job done! Really pleased with how this one has turned out!

Give thanks

Yesterday prompt was to think about what we have to thankful for. I am really pleased with how this page has turned out, and the embroidered emellishments from the Anna Griffin kit are really beautiful!

Drama Queen

Great news today, Hannah was cast as the female lead (Titania in Midsummer Nights Dream) to be performed in the summer. Much more of this later i suppose!!!

Was Hannah's GCSE prize eve tonight (David Moorcroft was the guest speaker, and very good he was too) Because of this am very glad that the theme for todays LO was to make a simple and quick page, mine took only 20 min to make. Journalling is about the visitors we are expecting at Christmas.

Christmas Journal Update

Here are the next 2 pages, still not done the 11th, tree was bought today, but until it goes up later in the week, this page will have to wait!

Page for the 13th is about Christmas carols, names of the carols are on tags tucked behind the Anna Griffin patterned paper, used doodlebug sticky loopyloo letters and some gold glitter on top.

Page for the 14th is about gifts. I chose to journal about the smaller presents we choose to save until after Christmas dinner, these stay under the tree until then, "tree presents", a tradition we have had since i was a child.

Christmas crop

Went to Sheenas house today, with 11 other scrappers from Coventry and Nuneaton. We spent the time in her luxurious garage, I managed to make a LO for a challenge set by Pam (see below), and another LO for my Christmas journal.

Even better I was the winner of the door prize, we all took an item of stash wrapped up and picked a random number. As mine was pulled out of the hat i walked away with a fab Kath Kidman bag full of lovely scrappy bits!!!... Now, where to put it all!

A breather at last...

After a really hectic week, without a night in since Monday, I have a night to myself tonight. Sadly Kev is out, with work, but i hope to catch up later with my Christmas journal. I have completed the page for the 12th, the 11th will have to wait as it is about the Christmas tree, and we haven't bought our real one yet!!

Am off to a crop tomorrow, so i also need to print off some Christmassy photos tonight for a challenge that will be set!!

So here's the page for the 12th, about Christmas memories, features a photo of the children when they were very small in 1999.

Mary at last!!!!

Have just returned home from the carol concert at the girls school, and apart from making a complete fool of myself (along with lots of other teachers on the staff )performing ' Rockin' around the Christmas tree' the night was really good. It wasn't so much the singing, but the dancing that i found hard. My 2 left feet, stiletto boots and a stage made from blocks with small gaps between them made for a dangerous couple of minutes!!!!

Katie performed beautifully with the guitar ensemble, and FINALLY Hannah was cast as Mary, she's only had to wait nearly 17 years!!!! I hope to be able to use some of the photos later on in my journal! She was fab of course, although her boyfriend looked very worried as she appeared on stage with a realistic bump made from some bed linen!!! I was worried it was going to fall out of her jumper half way through the performance!

"And lo, she gave birth to a king size sheet...."!!!!

Well back to the journal; had to be another very quick page today as i only started it at 9.15pm. Thank goodness for Thickers letters. The theme was paper, so i used some lovely Anna Griffin papers for the page, and journalled about the way i now wrap very few of my presents, but us and re-use bags and boxes bought a while back. Much more green, and much less time taken!

Traditions

Todays prompt was about the traditions surrounding Christmas, as there are so many i didn't find the journalling too hard.

We also had to try and hide some of the journalling, something i hadn't done for ages. I made a double sided stamped journalling block, and hinged this onto the LO with ribbons.

A really quick LO as I used the Anna Griffin papers, photo corners, parcels embellishment and ribbons, the title AC thickers.

Use something small

Todays challenge is to record the signs of Christmas around us photographically, and to use small photos and journalling on the LO. I remembered a tree shaped collage i used on a 12x12 LO i did a year ago, and thought i would use the same idea so that i could include as many photos as possible. Used a small sizzix alphabet die for the title, a bit of doodling and DCWV cardstock. I took all the photos around the house this evening when i got in from work, as not all of my decorations are up yet it was a nice snapshot of the house as it is today.

Up to date at last....

Here's todays page, about being organised, so i used my to do list, makes me a bit depressed looking at how long it is!!!!

Used DCWV paper and card and on the old stash theme i found some snowflakes to use as my bullet points that heave been in my stash for years!!!! AC Thickers for the title and sme more journalling strips.... question is, can i keep up next week?!

Christmas nostalgia.

I found this page quite hard as the prompt asked us to think of happy Christmases past, and those that were not so happy. I have had a lucky life to date, and thinking of the down side of Christmases stumped me... so i did recall a christmas from the 1970s that i remembered really well, and added my own twist on the downside in the journalling. We were also challenged to use old stash, i remembered this vintage style DCWV paper i bought about 3 years ago, and it fitted the bill perfectly.

Catch up... the next 2 pages.

Well as i had parents eve on Thurs and a migraine Friday I didn't complete my LOs until yesterday. I moved away from the trad colours for a change, and as these pages face each other in the journal i used the same die cut shapes for the title and journalling.

The 'perfect' page for the 4th includes a photo of my lounge just as i had finished decorating it last year, complete with roaring fire. It was the purple on the tree that made me choose pinks and purples for the backing papers.

The advent page records our embroidered advent calendar that we use each year. As i had a bit more time (it being the weekend) I stamped and handcut my title.
Just 2 more pages to do today, and i'll be up to date again!

The best card ever made....again!

When i read the prompt for todays LO was to be about christmas correspondance, Harrys hand made card seemed the perfect choice for a LO.
The lovely thing was that while i was making this page, he joined me and made another equally fab card for his other grandparents. Moments like this are so special, and this journal has been great for making me record them so that they will not be forgotten.

2nd December LO

This is what i made with the little felt snowflakes, I can see me using these throughout my journal! Although todays theme was the weather there wasn't much here worth recording, (maybe snow later in the week!) so the starbucks cherry mocha got a LO in its honour!!

Paperchase find!

Well the singing was very funny, but the dancing was better! When we actually perform i need to get Kev to take some photos!

Went to the local shopping centre with Hannah trying to get her a PT job, no luck but i found these FABULOUS little felt embellies in paperchase, it was hard to choose between them so i bought both! Took some photos in Starbucks, and will use these for my LO today.

Journal your Christmas day 1.

Well, i suppose i ought to start as i mean to go on, so i opened my prompt for today, and have made my first page. I was going to start with Advent, but that will have to wait until tomprrow (and i get the calendars out of the loft!!!)

Used DCWV cardstock, cuttlebug script embossing folder, a journalling stamp for the title block, AC thickers, and some journalling strips.

Papers throughout will be from an Anna Griffin kit, numbers will be cut from chipboard covered with these papers, using Cuttlebug Olivia font.

On a Christmassy note I went along to the staff carol practice today, for the carol concert during the last week of term. No words were available, but with 15 of us we should be able to make some noise!!! Another practice tomorrow after school, i might try to get a photo for my journal if the other staff don't mind!! Felt a bit sorry for the only male teacher present, very brave!!
