A Special day

It's not often i get to spend time with just one of my children, and really spoil them, so yesterday was such a treat. Harry and i spent the morning at Kenilworth castle, and the afternoon back in town at the local art gallery.

I had been to Kenilworth last year as we joined English Heritage while in Weymouth last summer, so this was a freebie! At the time they were building the Elizabethan gardens, these opened recently, so we decided to go and have a look while it was quiet. The planting was lovely, and will be amazing once it has filled out in a couple of years, we had a fab time scrambling about the castle taking photos. Just a shame it was so cold, i find myself wondering when summer will arrive!

After this a short drive down the sublimely beautiful (at this time of year) Kenilworth Road into town and the Herbert art gallery and museum. Harry had great fun dressing up in various costumes (Knight, peasant and oriental style by the time we left) and we saw lots to interest. It's been ages since i visited the Herbert, it was a favourite haunt of mine as a child. I would go in and have a look as it was always (and still is) free. i might go back soon with the girls, they would like it too, and the food in the cafe is really yummy!
