Autumn in the Garden

No crafty news today, but as Mum and I spent the morning in the garden and it does look especially good at this time of year, today's post is a horticultural one.

We have always loved Japanese maple trees, and it is at this time of year that these really come in their own. Thinking about it I'm sure we have 6 different types in the garden as a whole, 3 are visible in the photo above.

The fork in the photo isn't for added effect, i really did do some digging today too!

Mum and I worked really hard, and 4 hanging baskets, one trough, a large decorative pot and a swept patio and yard later i think the garden is nearly ready for winter. I do like looking out of the window and seeing flowers in the dead of winter, so although hanging baskets might be considered passe, i still have them in my garden. Finally, it's interesting to compare todays post to the one i wrote in the spring, how different the garden looks!

Just got the front garden to sort out now.....

What beautiful autumn colours in your garden. I think hanging baskets provide colour wherever you want it and whatever time of year - not passe at all!

Why are hanging baskets passe? I love seeing colour in the garden all year round - you've done a wonderful job.
