An English Lesson

I don't know if it's because I have to teach English now, but the poor use of grammar, punctuation and spelling really annoys me at times!! I do appreciate that many have difficulties in these areas, with a dyslexic husband and 2 children, but when it comes to businesses making basic errors, I start to see the red mist descend!!!
This card was bought in a rush by a TA at our school, and it was only once we had started to sign it that someone looked at the front and noticed the mistake. ... and with us being teachers we reallty couldn't send the card now, could we?!
I was given the offending article, and with the help of a die cutter and some card i repaired it to read like this....
Now that's better isn't it?
Apologies for any error's in this text, I have spell checked it, just put them down to typo's!
(Just got to love that apostrophe!)

Good for you Ann! That's an appalling mistake to make on a card.
I'm totally with you on not letting mistakes go - I even write "proper" English when texting - takes me ages!
Hugs xx

I am with you on the red mist with published, supposedly professional things that have basic errors - how many people had a chance to spot that mistake before it hit the shelves of the card shop????

We bought NSPCC Christmas cards one year and I had to bin them because they said "See Santa's Singing Silly Songs" ... I do feel so sorry for the abused apostrophe!!!

ugh, you should try teaching the use of apropriate apostrophe with non English speakers. It is a nightmare. It is worse when they can't differentiate the 'd for would and had. The joys of English!

I bet that card has been bought by lots of other people and no one has even noticed! I apologise for all the poorly spelt and grammatically incorrect comments I may have left here or I may leave in the future! lol

Yes!! We have exactly the same card at work, on the table in the staffroom, waiting for signatures and donations! I looked at it and thought 'how can you get a card printed without even spell checking it'??
The English language isn't what it used to be!!
