Remembering my Childhood

I'm not sure if my teens count as my childhood, but it's many of these memories that are strongest for me.

At around age 15 or 16 I spent a lot of time cycling about on my bike.  The day was a bit like today, sultry and  hot, so I hopped off my bike and wandered into a local wood about 3 or 4 miles from home.  The funny thing is, I can't remember what I did with my bike, but I went into the woods and found a fallen tree covered in moss some way in.

I just remember lying there on the tree, looking up at the sky through the leaves, and thinking about the future. It was so quiet and peaceful, and the weird thing was, that I found I thought to myself that this was a moment in my life that I wouldn't forget.
And even today, that memory of being alone in the woods, with the sun slanting through the trees and the insects gently buzzing around me, is as strong as ever, over 30 years later....

I'm not sure how I'd feel about my teenage daughters cycling about the countryside alone.... shame really.

Love the photos and isn't it the simplest memories that make the most impact.

What a beautiful memory you have shared with us all. I love the tranquility of trees and water and summer sunshine, it seems to make everything alright, even if it is only for a little while.

Love and hugs
