My Geeky Valentine.

Both being scientists, I couldn't resist the new Atomic die set by Tim Holtz.

Along with the retro background and another much older chemistry set by My Favourite Things, I made this year's Valentine card.

I die cut the small pieces and glued them onto red card, then cutting this with my Original Sizzix Heart#2... the background is die cut and the sentiments inside and out are stamped. Hope he likes it.

Happy Valentine's Day

I always make a card for my husband on Valentine's Day, this year is no different.

Red and black are traditional for February 14th, and I chose them for my card too.

The heart die is a very old one, I was sent it by Docrafts when I used to contribute to their magazine.  It cuts beautifully and the tiny hearts that drop out made ideal embellishments to finish the card. The 'love' word is by Toni Darroch, die cut from fun foam.  I added the mini banner with the simple 'you stamped onto it.  Hope he likes it.💓

A Valentine Card

My husband and I met at University studying for biology degrees 30 years ago this year.
For his Valentine card I decided to go with a scientific theme.

The heart and black glitter mat were cut using Sizzix dies, I had stamped onto the cardstock before cutting using a science set by My Favourite Things in Schoolhouse Red ink by Simon Says Stamp.

The banner was also cut using a stitched die by Simon Says Stamp, I added a glitter sentiment (part of a set I'd picked up at Hobbycraft) and a white heat embossed sentiment from he stamp set.
Hope he likes it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I made a card using die cuts for my husband this year.  I also chopped up some of my newly arrived Anna Griffin paper 'For the Boys'. I have had many paper pads over the 12 years I have been scrapbooking, but I have to say, these are some of the best in terms of quality and design I have bought!

The pear die cut is an old Basic Grey design for Sizzix, and I added a Tim Holtz banner with some of my own brush script at the bottom.

Inside the card I added more brush script, and a pair of socks cut from a catalogue design from one of the papers.  Hope he likes it.

An early valentine

I busied myself making a valentine card for my husband (who else?!) today.

I had put together the typewriter a while back using a Tim Holtz die and a number of pieces of inked card. When I saw this card on the Paperchase website, it gave me the idea for his Valentine card.

As you can see, I've gone for a grungier look, to suit a masculine card, and added a few other bbits from my stash.  The stamps are a small set of typeface with a tiny punched heart at the end of the message.  Frames are embossed and cut out (new Anna Griffin set shown on QVC this week; couldn't resist) and the chalkboard messages are also Anna Griffin stamps.

Hope he likes it!

Mme Payraud

I thought a Valentine card with a french feel would be ideal for Mr C, and as the Parisienne papers I have are very floral I chose a lovely vintage set from Papermania, Madame Payraud.

They have lots of lovely detail to be cut out, I particularly like the feathers and the stamped typewriter letters, perfect for adding sentiments.

On the plus side, they fit my circle palm punch too, so no laborious cutting out.

A Valentine Card

...with a difference.

It can be hard to make Valentines cards for men, I really don't like cutesy, slushy stuff, so the Papermania Chronology papers made the perfect choice for Valentine's day this year.

Along with embossing, twine and lots of inking, I was pleased (for once) with how my card turned out.

Happy Valentines Day

He did get the card on time, I'm just late posting it as we have had a couple of days in Derbyshire with Hannah. The card front was cut using a new cartridge for the eClips which I can see being really useful.

It's late, I know....

...but as I only got around to taking a photo of this card this morning I thought I'd upload it here.I made this Valentines card using my eclips, one of the clever things it can do is to cut a shape in exactly the place you want, of course it can cut the shape to size too, so i got it to cut the circular aperture right in the middle of this card, and exactly the size so the stamped words around it were a perfect fit. The papers were freebies from The Scrapbook Magazine (I often use these for card making) and the stamp is a set of circular sentiments by Sizzix, and the heart shape is also cut with the eclips.

Hope you like the new look blog, everyone seems to be having a spring clean of their blogs at present, and I thought as the days get lighter the snowflakes should go.

Another new month...

...and 2010 seems to be flying by already. I spent today in my new school, meeting the class i will be working with after Easter, and finding out what i need to do with the class teacher. To be honest i feel as if i may have bitten off more than i can chew with this Primary business, and OFSTED is imminent (very bad timing on my part) but then i find myself thinking if my OH can do it, then so can I!!!

I know it will be fine once i get started, but until then i just have to fret about the whole thing, and keep crafting to keep my mind off it all!

Today's page is one I made for a challenge on the Do Crafts site, using a sketch. I chose this picture of Kevin taken last week with a lovely cake he baked for me. The stash is sooooooo old i can't even remember buying it but it needed using so here it is on a LO (K&Co Neopolitan). As he is wearing a pink shirt, and the cake is pink i have used this girly colour on the page, but grunged it up a bit to try and make it more masculine. The title is stamped using Autumn Leaves alphabet and Studio g (the smaller letters.) As ever the Martha Stewart punches have an outing, I added Beadazzles to the stamped heart (Unity) and I added an eyelet by WRMK.

The blingy swirls i made myself, as i love them and they are a little pricey I used a set of Autumn Leaves swirl stamps, stamped in a light pink ink, added dots of glue using a glue pen, and then added the gems (by Anitas... very low price for a mass of them in 2 sizes) Am quite pleased how these turned out... crafting on a budget makes the LOs that bit more personal.

He loves me......

.... so much he even had a go at making a card for me:)

I was sent out of the kitchen after providing him with a box of scraps, the sizzix machine and dies, stamps and inks and punches.

I also made him a card, mine has less on it but took 3 times as long to make, as i had 3 attempts at it... on the first the stamp was wonky, the second was perfect, but i left my ink pad open and just as it was done i managed to get ink over the front of the card.... start again, 3rd time lucky, stamp is still slightly wonky, but I'd learned my lesson, and decided to live with it!

Martha Stewart punch, Anitas gems, Unity stamps, square cut with Nestabilities.

Have a wonderful Valentines day wherever you are.
