Travellers Notebook

I know I haven't posted in ages, work and life have been getting in the way. I'll share a few recent LOs with you over the next week or so.

Before going on holiday I decided to scrapbook my time using a travellers notebook for the first time.

I set it up before going and took a small bag of stash so I could complete a page a day. I left spaces for 3x2 photos and added them on my return.  Here is the completed book.

The first page is stamped with an Altenew wreath set, I wrote the title with a brush pen.  I set out a circular mood tracker using a WRMK tool and drew out my month to view with just a pencil and ruler before going over it in pen.

The reading page has books with stars to review each book. As we didn't have such good weather especially in the second week, I read less than I usually do.  I the set out a page a day for the whole holiday.

On each page I added the day and a few stickers. I used washi tape with sweets and biscuits by Docrafts.

On a couple of pages I made a pocket to add extra photos and ephemera, the WRMK tool helped make these.

Stickers were from a couple of American Crafts books, they made decorating the pages quick and easy.

I did keep up with my book and it has taken the pressure off getting photos scrapbooked on my return.

I might still do some pages at 12x12 size, just need to look through my photos from my good camera. All the pictures in the notebook are from my phone.

I completed the journal with a couple of pages set up before I went. The weather page uses the WRMK tool to set up the circle tracker and Heidi Swapp weather stickers.

The ice cream page uses Altenew ice cream stamps, coloured each time we ate one.

The last page has a simple habit tracker page in the form of a table.  I picked up the journal in Hobbycraft, the pages were a little thin so pens can bleed through. To solve this, I stuck pages together. It meant that I could also make more pockets between pages too by not gluing the top.
Will I use a travellers planner again? Probably!

Grow

It is almost twenty years since I was expecting my youngest child; now he is a 6ft tall man, daily going out to work as an engineering apprentice.

In this photo I am relaxing on the beach in maternity T shirt and shorts (it was all baggy back then) on our holiday to the Dorset coast.

Another page part-made using Box of Crayons, along with lots of word stickers from the Shimelle book alongside the photo.

I used a few stamps from the recent Ali Edwards stamp set, including the one for the title.

Gnashers

An old photo here of Kev and the girls (as both are now well into their twenties).

The title refers to the silly plastic teeth two are wearing, always fun to play with.

This is the first page I made using Shimelle's Box of Crayons range, the background papers are from another older Amy Tan kit (Yes Please), but the random embellishments are from the stickers and chipboard alphabet.
I do love the bright colours, they go so well with the summer clothes from the 1990's.

More Old Holiday Photos.

Here are a few pictures of Katie taken back in the noughties, she looks so cute that it's ahrd to believe that she will graduate in a few weeks time.

More old papers (Trimcraft I think) from a tropical set.  I also used cut flowers from the papers and some other bits and pieces from Teresa Collins papers.

The title letters are ancient Amy Tan vellum letters, so useful for a quick addition to the page and I love that you can see the background papers underneath.

The letter K is from a tropical die cut set (manufacturer unknown) as is the flamingo.  Enamel dots and butterflies completed the page.

Crazy Hair Contest

When the children were smaller, we used to take them to a caravan owned by my aunt and uncle.  The site had a club which had competitions for them; on the night in these photos it was a crazy hair contest.

They look so cute in their wigs, plaits and coloured sprayed hairstyles.  I scraplifted a design by Shimelle with the photo and all the embellishments in a central line.

The wooden word is from a set from The Works (bargain!) and I added an Amy Tan sticker underneath.

I think the papers are by Simple Stories and I added lots of stickers from the American Crafts books and a metal gem by Papermania.

When we Were Four

I love this photo of us taken on the harbourside in Weymouth before my youngest was born.

I can't get over how young we look, my husband (whose hair is silver now) has black hair and both of us are in our early thirties.

Again, I have used Maggie Holmes Carousel papers, along with a piece in the background by Trimcraft, floral paper (Yes Please by Amy Tan) and a Project Life journalling card.

The title is by Shimelle and small foam letters by Paige Evans.  Where have the years gone ...sigh?

My Little Lookout

A very old 35mm photo on this LO of Hannah using toy binoculars to look at the view over Durdle Door in Weymouth.

Although I have been trying to use up old stash, I did give in last week and buy a few sheets of the Maggie Holmes Carousel papers along with a chipboard sheet in the Hobbycraft sale.

The prices in there have been better of late, I picked up my sticker books all for half price.

Some of the embellishments were cut from the papers, kits and tickets.
As my daughter is 26 now, it is hard for me to accept that this picture was taken over 20 years ago. 😲

Uncle Tony

My children have always been close to my brother and I love this photo of him with Hannah back in 1995.

We had spent a day in a Victorian fort in Weymouth and Hannah liked to climb on the old acnnon in the courtyard.

The background paper is by Papermania, and the patterned papers are Maggie Holmes Carousel range.

I used chipboard from the range and  cut tickets and the kites from the patterned papers. Some die cuts by Vicki Boutin finished off the page.

Another Donkey Ride.

This time, the donkey ride is for two as both of my girls were old enough to enjoy the fun.

I made my first use of my Box of Crayons range after using up lots of old papers in the Clearthescrapdesk class.  The journalling box is from the journalling pad, and the orange card is from an old Amy Tan set of papers.

I used chipboard letters and tiles for the title and added a few embellishments cut from the papers.

I also included stickers from the Shimelle sticker book (so useful!), washi tape (Little by Little) and orange enamel dots. The stamps are from the calendar set by Altenew.  A quick page to finish yet another page for my old holiday scrapbook.

Old Family Photos

Now my children are all adult, I have been spending time catching up with some of my old scrapbooks.  Recently, I have been concentrating on family photos from the 1990s.  My children were small and in the first few pages, my son had not even been born yet!

This first page has a photo of my younger daughter, she is only one and i sitting with my sister and her husband.

The photos are a mix of Papermania, Anna Griffin and a Project Life journalling card. I used newer stash to give the older papers a more up to date feel, stickers from the American Crafts books, red enamel dots, a wooden title word and some tile letters from the Box of Crayons range.

We Play

My Dad used to love to make teeth from orange peel when the children were small and as Hannah was his first grandchild this is the first picture we have of us playing with the 'dangerous teeth'

I was expecting Katie on this holiday and as it was towards the end of our fortnight there I am very brown!

The papers are from a seaside set by Papermania, the title is  by Shimelle (Glitter Girl) and many of the embellishments are from the American Crafts sticker books, or cut from the papers (the beach huts).

Hard to believe she is 26 now.

Brownsea Castle

This was the only photo I managed to take of the castle on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour.  Although the building is owned by the National Trust and we are members, it is leased to the John Lewis partnership and used for corporate events and holidays for employees.

Members can visit the island and there is a cafe overlooking the harbour where we had coffee and a cake.  This is another page from the #clearthescrapdesk class by Shimelle using old stash. most of this is Amy Tan with an added  journalling block from a Project Life kit.

Stickers and embellishhments are from the American Crafts sticker books, and the glittery title is by Shimelle.

The washi tape is from the Little by Little range by Shimelle, and I even added a brand new puffy sticker ticket from Box of Crayons.

A very old photo

My eldest daughter is now 26 and this photo of her was taken down in Weymouth back in 1993. I have been trying to scrapbook some of my pre-digital days when we used a 35mm SLR camera.

I used Papermania seaside themed papers along with some very old Thickers and letter stikers by Shimelle for the title.

The beach huts were cut from the papers and I added lots of word and phrase stickers from the American Crafts sticker books.

Adding newer embellishments to older stash makes the page seem more up to date. More older photos to come.

Summer Scrapbooking

This photo was taken in the middle of summer down in Dorset a few years ago, so I thought it was about time I got them into my album.

The background paper is by Amy Tan (Yes Please)... another really old paper. I love it as a background paper as suggested by Shimelle (#clearthescrapdesk) along with a neutral to back the photo.

The title is part die cut, and part stickers (Maggie Holmes), I chose the Confuscian quote as it seemed a suitable one for my children all on the brink of adulthood.

I used an MME sticker sheet to border the photo, and added puffy stickers, the speech bubble is cut from a Paige Evans paper.  Good to get a five year old photo scrapped!

Brownsea

A few years ago, we took a trip around Poole harbour on a boat which dropped us on Brownsea Island. This is where the scouting movement began over one hundred years ago and one of the few places where elusive red squirrels can be found.

Another #clearthescrapdesk layout here from the second set of stash I put together. As I had three photo I used the shelf style layout to fit them all onto.

My stickers are all by Maggie Holmes, with the letters and speech bubble by Paige Evans.
The background cardstock is by Trimcraft, and the multicoloured piece is by MME.

The little border was cut from a Paige Evans paper, as the journalling says, we sadly didn't spot any of the rare little squirrels.
